Apple Tree in Bloom

An apple tree in front of the north fortress wall. It blooms several weeks after the almond trees, when spring weather is more certain.

What a lovely tree Fr Justin!
What variety of apple is it?
Does the monestary have an apiary?
My Grandparents farm had a natural bee hive inside a walnut tree and I think they
helped in propagation of the plum & peach trees and blackberries.

We have about twenty beehives in the garden. The bees pollinate the olive trees, as well as the almond, apricot, and apple trees. The bees also collect pollen and nectar from the eucalyptus trees. The resulting honey is dark and has a complex, herbal taste.

Hi Father Justin, It’s been years since we last communicated. Your recent picture of an apple tree in bloom reminded me that spring in NC and in the Sinai arrive at approximately the same time. We too are enjoying the beauty of God’s handiwork this time of year. Happy Easter!!
