The Chapel of the Burning Bush, the easternmost chapel of the Sinai basilica.
Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him. (Luke 20:37-38)
That is quite beautiful.
Dear Father Justin ,
This is a very beautiful photograph, and the colours look great and attractive!
Thank you for the comment. The Chapel is difficult to photograph, but I was pleased with this result. Notice the star pattern on the oil lamp underneath the Holy Table.
What is the picture to the right hand wall from the Holy Table? It looks like flames? I tried zooming in but can’t see it with clarity.
This room is indeed beautifully shot!
This is an icon of the Holy Trinity, surrounded by the six-winged seraphim and the many-eyed cherubim and ranks and ranks of the heavenly host. I have never seen anything like it. I do not see it among the icons that were photographed by Kurt Weitzmann. Perhaps he found it inaccessible. I would like to take a photograph of the icon, but it would not be easy.
Wow — we would love to see it more clearly! Is this Chapel open to the public? Perhaps if we can make a trip back at some point we can see it in person!
