The Chapel of the Ten Martyrs of Crete

Sinai has had a strong connection with Crete extending back over many centuries. Even today, there are more monks from Crete than from any other part of Greece. One of the Sinai chapels is dedicated to the Ten Martyrs of Crete, whose feast day is December 23.

The chapel is simple and austere.

The bishop’s throne is quite plain.

Deisis icons in the Cretan style adorn the iconostasion.
