Dear Father Justin,
The stasidia looks like it has had much use. The spindles (I do not know the correct term) look like they made have been made by different craftsmen at different times. Would it date back to the time of Justinian when trade with central Africa might have been less complicated?

The stasidia at Sinai date from the eighteenth century. Spaces are filled with tiny spindles turned on a lathe. Knobs also turned on a lathe were applied as ornaments. There is a general pattern, but each spindle and knob is slightly different, turned by hand.
