At last the first rays of sunlight strike the peak of the holy mountain. The light grows stronger as the sun rises into the sky.

As the light grows stronger heralding the approach of another day, the holy mountain turns a beautiful rose colour that later shifts to blue.
We celebrated the Divine Liturgy at midnight at the tiny chapel of Saints Galakteon and Episteme. Afterwards, I went a little ways down the path to photograph sunrise on Mount Sinai. When the holy mountain first emerges from the darkness, you can see a trail of lights as visitors make their way to the summit, with the stars still shining brightly overhead. (These are the first four of a total of sixteen photographs that I will be posting.)
This weathered plaster wall will soon be repaired and repainted. I wanted to photograph it as it was, still showing signs of age.

The humidity in the air from rain the previous day causes a small cloud to form for just a moment at dawn.
The first rain of the season cleared the air, and the next morning, we had beautiful cloud formations. Just at sunrise, a dove flew up and perched on the cross at the top of the bell tower.
An ornate silver icon lamp, as a new day begins to arrive in the long morning service.
With the approach of winter, the sun’s rays enter the church at an increasing slant.
The facade of the south wing has been renovated. We now need to continue with the renovation of the rooms on the west side.
