The vestments, banners, and other hangings in the church are still black, but already rays of sunlight enter at dawn.

And a Cloud Covered the Mount

Low lying clouds over the foothills of Sinai. These bring to mind the verse from Exodus, Καὶ ἐκάλυψεν ἡ νεφέλη τὸ ὄρος, And a cloud covered the mount (Exodus 24:15).

Clouds After Rain

In the middle of March, it rained for three days. This is quite rare for Sinai, but it was very much needed. All of our water comes from natural aquifers that are replenished by winter rains. Afterwards, there were low lying clouds over the mountains ranged on either side of the monastery.
