The Beginning of the Ascent

The beginning of the Steps of Repentance that lead to the very summit of Mount Sinai.

And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights. (Exodus 24:18)

    Father Justin,
In my mind, that is how Mount Sinai should look. Wonderful pictures.

You know what’s so amazing to me? That these things and locations that were once graced by the divine presence, still retain those same characteristics that they displayed whenever God used them to manifest his glory.

Mount Sinai still has thick clouds descending upon it. The burning bush still blooms with little flame colored flowers. And the Red Sea (Reed Sea) still recedes as though parting again to let the Children of Israel cross over.

I like to think of it as God leaving behind little reminders that these things that were used by him to accomplish his divine plan, still display those same unique signs that they did in that day so that we never forget.

He still leaves behind the same signs and wonders in the lives of those he uses for the same purpose.
