Rays of Sunlight

During the latter part of April, the sun’s rays enter the church aligned with its axis, which faces directly east.

The first rays of sunlight are more horizontal, and more tentative.

As the sun rises in the sky, its rays become more intense, and more at an angle.

Rays of sunlight stream down past the cross that is over the iconostasion.

This always brings to mind the verse, τοῦ ἀγαπήσαντός με καὶ παραδόντος ἑαυτὸν ὑπὲρ ἐμοῦ, “who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)

That is very beautiful. Are any of the services being streamed this week? Is there any hint of when services may become open again?

It remains to be seen whether we will be able to stream any services this year. The team that did that for us last year is not here this year. It has been very strange to have our complex and beautiful services with only the twenty of us in our vast basilica. We hope that in June, we can begin to open up again.
