New Moon

A new moon slips behind the mountain soon after sunset.

Ἐποίησε σελήνην εἰς καιρούς· ὁ ἥλιος ἔγνω τὴν δύσιν αὐτοῦ. (Ψαλμὸς ργ΄)

Nightfall

At nightfall, a silence descends upon the monastery.

Sinai Butterfly

The bedouin who maintain the olive trees at the Church of the Forty Martyrs planted a garden. The flowers attracted a butterfly. It is a Vanessa cardui, popularly known as a Painted Lady butterfly.
